[REVIEW]: Laneige BB Cushion SPF 50+ PA++ | #23 Sand Beige

Sunday, January 15, 2017

If there’s one thing I wish I should’ve discovered long long ago, it’s cushion. I’m totally a late bloomer to this trend. I learned about cushions around 2013 or 2014 when I received a sample but I ignored it because I’m not totally convinced about the product. I actually saw some of my friends use it, but still, my heart was hard as a stone for cushions. Haha.

Fast forward late 2016, I decided to give it a try. With all the cushion brands out there and all the hype here and there, I’m actually confused what cushion brand to get. Eventually, I decided to give Laneige BB Cushion a try. Actually, it was on sale and I know Laneige is a good brand so I decided to purchase it.

As far as I know, in Korea, the Laneige BB Cushion is now discontinued and is replaced with Laniege BB Cushion Whitening and Laneige BB Cushion Pore Control. But when I checked our local (Philippines) Laneige counter it's still available. What I actually like about Laneige BB Cushion is that this is the combined version of the whitening and pore control line. I'm really crossing my fingers that they will not discountinue this cushion line in SE market.

The Laneige BB Cushion’s box is quite thick and big because it came with a refill. I wish that they actually sell refills (without the case). I find it a waste to replace the case everytime you finish your cushion because it really looks durable.

I love how easy it is to remove and replace the cushion cartridge. Unlike the regular pacts wherein you need a clean tweezer to remove the pan and can be quite messy at times, for cushions all you need is push out the old cartridge and push in the new one. It only takes less than 10 seconds to do it and it’s mess free!

The moment of truth! Removing the top sticker gives you an anxious feeling, as if you were opening your gifts as a kid. Hahaha.

I believe that compared to other cushions where the sponge is still white and you need to press the sponge several times to pull the bb cream/foundation from the bottom, the Laneige BB Cushion is really a ready to use product. There’s no need to flip or press the sponge. The case is double sealed so the product won’t evaporate away.

I got the #23 Sand Beige color because it’s the darkest color available. But according to the South East Asia site, there are even darker colors available. Despite being the darkest color in the Korean market, the #23 Sand Beige is still a little white on my skin. I think the next shade, #31 Brown, will work on my NC30 skin tone. I need to look for a darker setting powder to make it look more natural.

What I like about Laneige BB Cushion is the buildable coverage. Though this is a medium coverage cushion, you can actually go sheer on days when it’s okay to go with light make-up or go to medium to almost full coverage when needed.

The Laneige BB Cushion having an SPF50+ protection, you can see a slight grey/white cast when you apply it. It’s nothing horrible, it has the same look/effect as bb creams with high spf. Though, I find the SPF a major plus for me since I work in the field and is always exposed to sun.

I tested Laneige BB Cushion in our recent family occasion. The place was hot and filled with people and I’m really sweating. I was actually a bit anxious that my skin might get really oily (I didn’t have the chance to blot my face that day) and the foundation will cake and slide off my skin. When I got home I was really surprised that my make-up was still intact and I only have a dewy-looking skin. Though I think my W-Lab PropolisSoothing Gel primer and using a setting powder did play a huge part, I was really surprised with how Laneige BB Cushion stays in your skin. Aside from its staying power, the Laneige BB Cushion doesn’t feel dry/tight, not sticky, and it really feels lightweight on skin. I actually think that some bb creams feels heavier than this cushion.

My sensitive skin also approves this cushion. I never had a breakout yet after using this for several times. And I’m really crossing my fingers that this cushion will work on me until I finish the refill.

So far I’m happy with my first cushion experience.
