[Review]: Scinic Coconut Cleansing Water

Saturday, February 04, 2017

If you live in the tropics (like me), you probably have a coconut related stuff in your home: cooking oil, dip, dessert, fresh coco juice, coco beauty oil made by your grandma, bunot (coco shell used to make your wooden floor super shiny), and the list goes on. That’s why I really got curious when I saw Scinic Coconut Cleansing Water while browsing shelves in the department store.

I’m really glad that Scinic now made it’s way here in the Philippines. I’ve read a lot of good reviews with other Scinic products, that’s why I didn’t hesitate trying the Coconut Cleansing Water.

The first thing you’ll comment on Scinic Coconut Cleansing Water is how huge the bottle is. It’s 500ml and definitely not travel friendly but probably will last a little long.

It is tightly sealed with a plastic/silicone in the pump so the product won’t spill and also guarantees you that the product is unopened and unused.

I thought that it has colorants since it’s color blue but I was wrong, it’s just the bottle. It’s clear and fragrance-free, definitely a check if you have a sensitive skin.

I swatched waterproof/smudge-proof makeups (except for Nature Republic Eyebrow tint and It’s My Bong Tint) to test how easy to remove makeup with Scinic Coconut Cleansing Water.

You have to soak your cotton with the cleansing water and gently rub the cotton in your skin. In this test, at first swipe, it only removed a few make-up. I was able to remove everything using both sides of one rectangular cotton pad.

But for my face, using regular powder foundation or cushion, concealer, eyebrow pencil, and blush-on, I have to use 3 to 4 cotton pad to remove all my make-up (my foundation is just thin and single layer). It’s actually double the amount of cotton (and probably product) from my previous Bi-Festa Cleansing Lotion. If you actually use a more make-up probably you’ll need more.

But I love how gentle Scinic Coconut Cleansing Water is and it doesn’t sting my eyes and nose whenever I use this. It also doesn’t leave a dry and tight feeling after using it and no breakouts so far after 3 weeks of use. Though it claims that it doesn’t need to be washed off, I still do wash my face afterwards to make sure that every make-up trace is removed. Double cleansing is still the way to go.

I actually would love to try other Scinic products. I’m crossing my fingers that it’ll launch different products in the local market soon.
